Kilvington Reads 2022

This term, we celebrated Kilvington Reads - a week of author visits, writing workshops, bookish competitions, and dress ups!

On Wednesday, the junior school students (and staff!) took inspiration from their favourite book characters and walked in the Kilvington Reads dress up parade to show off their creations.

We welcomed visiting authors Alice Pung, Jane Godwin, Emily Gale, and illustrator Sher Rill Ng to sit down with our junior school students and talk about the magic of storytelling in all its forms.

Over the course of a week, we learned how to illustrate a picture book, create a story based on our characters' biggest fears, and find inspiration in our memories, favourite places, goals, and interests.

It was such a joy to see the students light up when they were encouraged to share their ideas. This energy hasn't gone anywhere; since the author visits at the start of the term, we've had so many eager writers working on their own stories in the library.

We're already looking forward to Kilvington Reads 2023!
